I entered the Twilight Zone
Have you ever been lost?
Have you ever felt like you knew where you were going, only to be somewhere you can't begin to recognize?
Have you ever trusted your own memory more than the words of others?
I started today simply. Woke up, drank a smoothie, and decompressed before I went to campus.
However, fate had other plans.
It started with checking my phone. My memory is not the best, so I checked the schedule and looked at the details for my English COMP class it read:
"Where: Powers Building 144"
I didn't even question it. Surely this schedule that I used the Monday prior led me to the right place, so why would it mislead me now? So away I went. However I noticed something quickly,
I have never been to this building before.
It was pretty to be sure, glass walls, intricate design all about. I should have remembered a building like this. Still, I carried on. It took me a while to find building 144 in this shallow, thin hall. But I found it. Tucked away was a door shrouded in shadow, it stood in front of a room cloaked in darkness. on the door itself simply had a sign that read
"CLASS IN PROGRESS"
in bold, white letter stood against its blood-red background. I stared at the door, its letters burning into my vision as time crawls. My mind begins to swirl as I notice a few things.
No one is here.
It's only ten minutes before class ends, where is everyone?
Did the location change?
Why would it change?
Why am I the only person who made this mistake?
Did I make a mistake?
What is going on?
This madness must end. I sought help. I asked around and I was in the place that my schedule told me. Eventually, I had what I can only assume to be a staff member help me out. They confirmed my suspicion, something was off. They pointed me in the direction of Classroom Office 258.
I hurriedly made my way to the building. Looking for the room number.
254...256...
258!
I looked in only to see a completely alien classroom. I quickly explained myself and was informed of my misdirection. Yet one detail stood out, blinding anything else.
On the board was written
D R. K Y B U R Z.
Dr. Kyburz?
That's who I had!
She was in this room!
Why don't I know where to go?
Why is everything so off?
I sulked out of the room, defeated. I would never find this class of mine.
But then a light appeared,
A familiar face.
From I remembered he was the husband of the professor I had.
I quickly stumbled over myself explaining to him where I needed to be and just like that,
I knew where to go!
Relief!
Joy!
All was well!
I made my way and took a seat in the now-familiar room, got to work and was instructed to write in a blog.
Oh... what to write about?
